This Moto Mod turns your phone into a walkie-talkie
Back in November, Motorola launched a contest to jump-start Moto Mod development, and so far it seems to have worked. The latest Moto Mod to surface on Indiegogo is Linc, a “smart” walkie-talkie attachment that will allow you to stay connected in areas with no cell coverage.
The Linc radio has a range of five miles and supports 22
channels, SMS, GPS location sharing, and an emergency alert button that
can transmit an SOS signal. It can also communicate with two-way radios
from different manufacturers using its radio-over-IP gateway, and comes
with a 1,500mAh battery that will last 20 hours on standby.
Although it’s designed to work with the Moto Z, Linc says
the walkie-talkie can connect and work with any Bluetooth-enabled
device. Given that this is a crowdfunded device and Linc has never
shipped a product, there’s always the chance that the product may never
ship or work like you expect it to. But if you’re inclined, you can
order a Linc for as low as $99 on Indiegogo.
