Line now lets you unsend messages that are less than 24 hours old

Naver’s Line messaging app will now let you unsend messages, as reported by RocketNews24. It’s great news for those of us who’ve hastily sent the wrong giant sticker with too many hearts and end up flirting with acquaintances. Oh, that never happened to you before? Never mind. I am just saying, there are a lot of super flirty stickers in the Line sticker store.

Note, however, that Line will only let you unsend messages within the first 24 hours of sending it. It’s even coordinating a whole Black Friday event around this new feature, which has nothing to do with discounts or sales. Instead, Line is encouraging users to use the hashtag #LINE誤爆 (or “Line message wrongly sent”) to celebrate the common mishap.

WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, released a similar feature at the end of October, allowing you to delete and revoke messages sent by mistake. However, the feature doesn’t prevent people from immediately spotting the message when you first sent it, and it will still tell the recipient that you’ve deleted something you’ve sent — so the awkward factor doesn’t entirely go away.
