No Man’s Sky ‘Foundation Update’ is coming soon

No Man’s Sky is getting a major update in the coming weeks, Hello Games announced on its website. The “Foundation Update” will introduce a base-building feature into the game, according to the developer, as well as set the stage for further updates.
A release window has not yet been dated, and more details about the patch will also arrive at a later date. Hello Games did say that this won’t be the game’s “biggest update, but it is the start of something.”
The team also reflected on the criticism surrounding the game since launch, which has found No Man’s Sky and its developer subjected to player outrage over its content, social media hacks, and even an investigation for false advertising, due to screenshots showing features not included within the game itself.
“The discussion around No Man’s Sky since release has been intense and dramatic,” the Hello Games team wrote in the post, its first since September. “We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.
“Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone.”
The Foundation Update is referred to as step one toward winning back those same fans who couldn’t wait for the game before its release. Whenever it arrives, it will mark the first patch for No Man’s Sky released since Sept. 24.
